What moves the price

  • AccessPipes under floors, boxed in or behind tiles take longer to reach and to make good.
  • The partsThe boiler, cylinder, radiator or toilet chosen moves the price as much as the labour does.
  • Older systemsOld pipework, sludge in the radiators or a flue in the wrong place add work.
  • When and whereNights, weekends and emergencies cost more, and so does Dublin. Gas work must be done by a Registered Gas Installer.

Replace a gas boiler: €2,500 to €5,500+.

Typical price · Replace a gas boiler

€2,500 to €5,500+

A range, never one price. A new gas boiler supplied and fitted. Moving the flue, new controls or new pipework add to it.

The sources don’t say whether VAT is included. Ask whether a quote includes it.

How it works

Each range runs from the lowest figure to the highest across at least two Irish price guides published or updated recently. Every source is listed under the job with the date we checked it, so you can read it yourself.

Once a job has enough real quotes sent with QuotePaid in an area, the page also shows the middle half of what businesses actually quoted there, before VAT: at least 30 quotes from at least 5 businesses in the last 12 months, with no names, addresses or single prices.

It depends on the source, and most don’t say. Each job says which of its sources include VAT and which leave it out. Work on a home is usually charged at 13.5%, so ask whether a quote includes VAT before you compare two.
